Following a fabulous 2015, Waterside Chiropractic sponsored equine and canine clients, Jessica Sedgwick & Harvey and Emma Priest & Foxi had a bit of time ‘off’ over the Winter. However, they have not been idle during that time!
There were many highs and lows for Jess and Harvey during the second half of 2015. Harvey jumped beautifully at Hickstead in August and won his class at the Endurance Inter-Regional Competition at Cranwich, Norfolk a couple of weeks later, cruising round 42km at a speed of 14.8kph finishing with a Grade 1. However, the following weekend on the way to another 50km Endurance Ride at Barbury Castle, Harvey fell in the trailer on the way and although passed as fit by the vetting to ride, it poured down with rain for 4.5hrs during the ride which resulted in Harvey slipping on the chalk. He trotted up lame and was eliminated. On returning home he developed a slight curb and had to rest and take it easy for a few weeks which meant the end of Harvey’s season of Endurance for the year.
After his rest he then had a treatment from Jackie, his incident in the trailer had caused a few issues all over but Jackie was really able to help him and gave Jess advice for his recovery. After treatment he was feeling right as rain again and back to his cheeky self! Jess then started gently re-introducing ridden work in the form of light hacking with Harvey’s new buddy, Storm. Jess said “my treatments from Jackie have also been invaluable this year. When riding for a long time and over long distances it really was important that I was straight and comfortable as I didn’t want to hinder Harvey in any way. A few times this year I have needed treatments from Jackie after getting myself in a state doing silly things (spraining my ankle on a trampoline being one of them!) and I always feel a million times better afterwards. The discomfort is instantly gone and I am now feeling that I need treatments less and less as I am getting stronger myself (when not doing said silly things…) I think that regular chiropractic treatments has made a massive difference to my riding this year and has certainly helped with mine and Harvey’s success!!!! So a MASSIVE Thank You to Jackie for everything that you have done for myself and Harvey this year. We would not have had the results that we have had without you!”
Foxi too has had an amazing year of agility, this was her first full year of Grade 7 and first experience of Champ classes!! She has been amazing and managed to qualify for Crufts 2016 in the singles event to be held on the Friday, I am also very proud to say she has been picked to be part of the 2016 Team GB squad! This is a massive honour and Emma and Foxi have attended their first squad day at Nottingham University in early December 2015 which although was a bit intense was amazing and a great experience! Emma says, “without Jackie’s fantastic support none of this would have been possible, Foxi always loves her treatments and I have peace of mind that she is feeling as good as she can, also my back has not been playing ball this year and without the treatments there is no way I would have been able to run with her!! Massive thank you Jackie for all you have done, it’s so much appreciated and I will be so proud to wear my Waterside Chiropractic shirt at Crufts!!”
It has been a pleasure to help Jess and Harvey, and Emma and Foxi to hopefully compete at their best during 2015 and we are all very excited about what lies ahead for them all in 2016. Waterside Chiropractic will continue to sponsor these ambitious pairs to help them to achieve their goals during 2016 and we all look forward to the updates and pictures in the months ahead. Good luck to them all!
