Well, what a summer it has been!
In fact, it has been so busy here at Waterside Chiropractic this year that it has been hard to keep on top of everything and so some admin tasks have taken a back seat, including the (semi!) regular posts on the Waterside Chiropractic blog! Finally we are coming up for air here at Waterside Farm and this is what we have been up to over 2014 and since our last post.
New Waterside Chiropractic Resident Equine – Irish
July 2014 saw ‘Irish’ joining Waterside Chiropractic as our resident equine. He’s a 6yo 15.1hh Connemara type, very sweet natured lad who came over from Ireland at the end of June 2014. Irish takes the place of previous resident equine Spanish Andalucian ‘Amorio IV’, who has moved to Dorset to fulfill a more competitive career. Irish has settled happily at Salthorse Stud Farm in Woodmancote near Emsworth in West Sussex. Irish has already had a couple of chiropractic treatments and is happy to show you how gentle and non-invasive McTimoney Chiropractic for animals is. Further information and bookings for Animal McTimoney Chiropractic demonstrations (horse or dog) can be made by contacting Waterside Chiropractic.
Sweet Green Good Quality Hay Harvest
It was also another good year for the hay. The long hot days of July provided more than adequate time and heat for the hay harvest, so once again, the hay from the fields here at Waterside Farm is gorgeous, green and sweet-smelling, top quality if we say so ourselves! We have also managed to maintain last year’s prices, so for small quantities (e.g. 10 bales or less), hay is currently available at £4 per bale for deliveries within a 15 mile radius. For those wanting to purchase larger quantities, discounts are available depending on how many bales are being purchased and where they are being delivered to; for further information, contact Ian Rudkin on 07984 548421.
Waterside Farm Entrance and Car Park Upgrade
At the end of August, Waterside Farm underwent a bit of a facelift. For those that visit regularly, you will not be able to help but notice the improved entrance and car park. 80 tonnes of planings and 16 tonnes of gravel along with a dumper and digger have transformed the place! The car parking area has also been made significantly larger, so we would respectfully ask you to please not drive on the grass when turning your car around as now there really is no need. The soil in our fields is clay and becomes sodden very quickly with the slightest amount of rain. Last year, some people drifted on to the grass and found themselves stuck in the mud and needed to be towed out. We hope to avoid a repeat of any such similar situations this year.
Improvements to Canine Treatment Facilities
In addition to the dedicated canine treatment room, we now also have a dedicated floodlit concrete strip runway right outside the treatment room for dogs to walk and trot up on prior to receiving treatment. This will make it much easier for everyone. Please ensure that your dog is wearing a collar/harness and lead before exiting your vehicle and please park in the car park (the gravelled area) and walk the few yards to the treatment room.
Waterside Chiropractic Sponsorships
Waterside Chiropractic is passionate about the health, welfare and well-being of all its clients, irrespective of the age of the person or animal, their chosen life style, living environment, activity or sport. The general and physical health, well-being, quality of life, posture and sporting performance of the person or animal can normally benefit or be improved upon with the aid of chiropractic treatment.
However, those clients, be they human, equine or canine that compete at a high level put more stress on their musculoskeletal systems than the average person or animal and often require more intensive chiropractic care so that they are able to continue to compete at this level. Waterside Chiropractic is proud to announce that it has been (and will be continuing to) support a couple of clients by providing them with the sponsorship necessary to help them to be able to compete to their full potential in their chosen sport. Jessica Sedgwick, England Team Endurance Rider and her horse ‘Good Morgan’ (aka Harvey), and Emma Priest and her dog ‘Foxilocks Flyer’ (aka Foxi) who compete in high level canine agility were the two clients selected. Both have done extremely well this summer – more can be found out about the extraordinary achievements of Jess and Harvey and Emma and Foxi by clicking here and there are also some great action photos of the events that they have been involved in!
Both Jess and Emma feel that regular chiropractic treatment from Waterside Chiropractic has helped them to achieve their goals. Jess says, ‘Thank you so much for sponsoring me and Harvey! Harvey really has been fantastic since you have been treating him and I am sure it has contributed to our success and ultimately our selection for the England Team. Thank you! Jess & Harvey x’. Emma says, ‘having regular check ups and treatments with Jackie at Waterside Chiropractic is an essential part of Foxi’s training and general well being. She gives me 100% every time we compete so I have to make sure she is able to do that by making sure she feels her best. Having regular treatments has definitely improved her performance…’
So after such a great year to date and a beautiful Summer, let’s hope that we have an equally good Winter. It is not just high performing animals and people that benefit from regular chiropractic treatment. If you or your animal have not had a chiropractic treatment for some time, don’t delay in getting yourselves checked out before the Winter sets in.
